Leading Edge Certification

I am enjoying being part of the pilot group for the Leading Edge Certification for Administrators. The “Leading Edge Certification (LEC) is a national certification program in education technology and curriculum innovation.” http://leadingedgecertification.org/

One of our assignments is to create a blog, so I resurrected this one after abandoning it for an electronic newsletter, twitter and website. But this assignment helped me realize that I am giving, receiving and sharing resources through those medium for my role as statewide coordinator for the Business Education Leadership Project, not myself. This allows me to share information for different interests, and gives me a tool to process the info shared. I won’t likely post my personal thoughts very often (always working), but I may engage in learning in ways I would not have otherwise.

UCCI Institute for Info Tech and Math

The University of California hosts the UC Curriculum Integration Institutes in northern and southern California three times a year. The UCCI Institutes bring together educators from around the state to collaborate on the creation of model high school courses that anchor traditional academic learning in real-world experience, by integrating career technical education (CTE) with “a-g” subjects. UCCI Insitute courses are designed to be rigorous and relevant, to keep students engaged in learning and to prepare them for college and career success.

ICT/Math Institute: Apply to this Institute to create an outline for one integrated course that combines one career pathway of the Information and Communication Technologies CTE industry sector with mathematics (“c”).
